Distance is a contemplation on regenerative economy, consequence, and the social practice of economy. Moving between lived experience in South African townships and broader questions of economic development, the essay challenges conventional assumptions about money, investment, and public policy. It proposes that regeneration emerges whenever systems keep decisions connected to the lives they affect.

The Beginning of Community Economy
Bloemfontein. August 2025. Namibia Township. 53 people (15-68 yrs) gathered to share what matters for a good life in their community. When people asked what to expect, we said honestly, we don't know.
There comes a moment when what has always worked quietly stops working. That's where we meet.
