You Can Rule a Life You Have Never Once Stood In

Three countries, three systems. Sovereign debt, health financing, housing. None of them look alike on paper. But run your finger under all three, and you find the same seam: somebody signs, somebody else lives with what was signed. I wrote about what that seam actually is, and why regeneration as a design principle is the only thing that can close it.

Distance ・ Reflections On Economy, Consequences, and Regeneration

Distance is a contemplation on regenerative economy, consequence, and the social practice of economy. Moving between lived experience in South African townships and broader questions of economic development, the essay challenges conventional assumptions about money, investment, and public policy. It proposes that regeneration emerges whenever systems keep decisions connected to the lives they affect.

Honey, Trained Monkeys Just Don't Have What It Takes to Be Authentic

Authenticity isn’t something we learn—it’s about unlearning the façades we’ve built. Reality shows, we show up like trained monkeys performing tricks in a circus. We feel sympathy for them, trapped in roles that don’t reflect their true nature. Trained monkeys might perform on cue but never truly inspire awe. But we need leaders who are transparent and open to inspire loyalty and engagement. And for that we have to show our beautifully messy, imperfect, and authentic versions of ourselves.

Are You Bold, or Just Insane?

"There's a fine line between insanity and boldness. Unfortunately, you have to be bold to see it" Why did I write this latest piece? Because we need those bold enough to rattle the cage, question the status quo, and dare to create something entirely new—for Mama Gaia and for every single one of our species. What may appear as insanity to some is actually an essential aspect of innovative leadership and entrepreneurship. I argue that boldness involves recognizing the insanity of the repetitive cycles we often find ourselves in. Breaking through those patterns, embracing discomfort, and acknowledging failure is boldness in action. Boldness is an evolutionary act. "Real evolution, whether in business, leadership, or life, always requires this kind of death—a part of the old you, the old way of thinking, or the old structures must die for something visionary to be born."

Why The Survival of Companies Depends on How We See Them

Have you founded your company 20 years ago or do you know someone who did? Well, statistically, this company is moving towards its end. If we want organizations to develop well, we all need to realize that it is us who make organizations exactly what and how they are. If we want them to be different, we have to start with ourselves and change. Here is how…

There comes a moment when what has always worked quietly stops working. That's where we meet.

Founders, leaders, investors, municipalities, or restless changemakers. Different responsibilities and different realities. But they all feel the same urgency for change. Our work might take the form of a long-term advisory relationship, a strategic engagement, a conversation over tea, or a keynote that changes the perspective in the room. The format depends on your situation and the work we can do together.

Offer

  • Strategic and project-based advisory for organizations, governments, investors, and municipalities navigating complexity, transition, and long-term change.

  • Close-up of a speaker with a dark background, with a small stream of liquid, possibly oil, dripping from the top. Text overlaid reads 'THE TEA ROOM'.

Private or shared conversations about the future economy we are building. Exploring the regenerative economy in practice, Community Economy, leadership, transformation, and the realities of fieldwork.

  • A woman with shoulder-length blonde hair stands on stage in front of a blue and red segmented backdrop with the words "Speaking" visible. She is wearing a black blazer and white top, with shoes visible at her feet.

Speaking on my favorites: humanity in the economy, community economy development, community capital, economies in transition, the forces that shape them, and what leadership looks like when the ground is shifting.
